Countries Connecting

Countries connect, make treaties, agreements, and then get in arguments.  The European Union seemed like such a good idea.  Simplifying travel, one monetary system, common trade policies.  Uniting offered lots to like.

But now we have two new words in our vocabularies, in addition to exit, we have the word Brexit, meaning Britain’s  exit of the EU, and Grexit, meaning the possible exit of Greece as well.  Disagreements continue over immigration, who has the most debt, whose making decisions, whose pulling the load, and who’s piling on for a ride.

Like people who connect and then disconnect, the European Union is no guarantee of continued unity.

Thankfully, when we join with Christ accepting God as our Lord, he never exits,  Our union is permanent.
