A Dad’s description

I  recently comforted a man, a muslim,  whose Dad had been brutally murdered.  This man had been a diplomat, international representative of his country.  I’m sure many remembered his public accomplishments after his death.

But his son, fighting back tears, described him as a ‘happiness maker,’ a magical man, a man who could pull a rabbit from a hat.  And after a decade, that void was still painful, yet his presence still influencing his son.  His widowed mother still struggles. Our faiths are quite different.  Yet loss was our common bond. I Corinthians 9: 22. I could tell this man that God cherished his mother even more because of her widowhood.

I was challenged to focus on my family.  Ministry calls, even demands.  However, no one else can be Dad or Mom.  A good reminder today.
