The value of a small discipline
August 21, 2017
Does a small discipline matter? Eating just a bit less won’t rid one quickly of lots of extra pounds. Saving just a bit of money won’t create a huge quick nest egg. But consider Theodore Johnson, a UPS worker who never earned more than $14,000 a year. He saved every bonus and 20% of his income investing in the company stock. At age 90 he had 70 million dollars! A small consistent discipline brought results.
God has discipline guidelines. Invest in Kingdom matters, 10% or so. Fast (give up food) at times to remind your body hunger does not dictate your behavior. Take time to come along side those suffering. They remind us of God’s great care and compassion.
Result: we may or may not see benefits. God keeps those records.
