The day after
December 26, 2017
Why do Christmas decorations look beautiful and sparkly when we decorate, and tired and uninspiring when we pack them away? Its the ‘week after’ phenomenon. Excitement builds as we anticipate an event. Then its over. We are left to contemplate our expectations and reality. Even if your Christmas was all you wished it to be, feeling down afterwards is normal.
Many of my decorations remind me of people. I’ve decided to pray for them as I pack away the one eyed Santa my child created in grade school. The reindeer with three legs now. The memoirs from the 50 countries Bob and I visited. Praying over each ornament reminds me the new year is a time to start fresh, an opportunity for God to show up.
The week after is a grand time to pray.
