One of the evil ones favorite tools to mess with believers is the strategy of the bright shinny object. Starting in the garden of eden, it was a tasty FORBIDDEN apple. Appealed to Eve, convinced Adam and humanity has never been the same.
We are not immune from temptation. Pride of ownership. Yes, I love my beautiful home. But its not mine. Its God’s on loan. Pride of position. Scripture is clear. Slave or free, lowly job or prestigious in the worlds eyes, work is honorable and position in Christ is what matters. Galatians 1: 10.
One of the most defining objects for all time was not bright and shiny. The cross, where Jesus gave himself for us, and object of disgust and humility. An object elevating our value for eternity.
