Storms gullies
November 8, 2016
In my
young tractor driving days, intense storms
created mini gullies in the fields.
Our John Deere had close front tires that would sink in these mini
trenches. It was hard for me to ‘muscle’
the steering wheel and guide the tractor where I wanted it to go. At the end of one day, at the edge of a
field, I could not, and the trench guided me unwillingly into a tree.
Embarrassed
I headed home, head light dangling and other dents.
Life’s
storms are like that. They create a
gully demanding to control our future.
God tells us a different truth.
He teaches us through storms, in fact strengthens us.
I
learned to steer out of the gully sooner, to be more watchful. Not a bad lesson for a twelve year old
tractor driver.
