Sin and seeds

Most of us are frustrated by habits from annoying to sinful that violate how God has taught us to live.  Lets call those the seeds of life.  Gardners and agricultural scientists have discovered that weed seeds are viable much longer than good seeds.  In fact some weed seeds are viable for decades.

Our lesson is that defeating bad habits may not be a ‘one and done’ thing.  A few years later, that temptation can emerge at an opportune time to sin, not to live as God has taught us.

What makes the difference in viability?  The seed coat. Tough coats keep them hidden.  The soil. Burial  inhibits germination.

Our coat:  Scripture.  Reading, remembering, reminding ourselves of who we are and whose we are.  Soil.  Where do we keep ourselves?  Some places are just too tempting.
