Shield of faith
April 14, 2020
Every day Christ followers face challenges, some small, some huge. Every day we need to put on the shield of faith. God does not crush that shield into our hand. We can chose to leave it in the closet.
A Roman soldier’s shield was well known to the writer of Ephesians 6, the Apostle Paul. That shield was protection that could be moved to block incoming flaming darts. Roman shields were designed to permit locking together with the next soldier, a tight protection for both or a whole line.
The key word is FAITH. This is not blind belief. We have investigated God. Jesus came to life. Our sure faith is that no flaming arrow can destroy our guaranteed position in Christ. Faith today, Heaven yet to come.
