Serving in hard places # 2.

Are we ready to allow God to change His call on our life?  Are we attentive to the new assignments He has today in this time of disruption, even loss?  We know  He takes threads of our past as training tools, both positive and negative to equip us for the future.

Consider the disciple Philip from the town of Bethsaida.  After Jesus ascension, he was called to a menial task, serving widows.  Menial to others, not to God.

He preached in Samaria, a group looked down on for their mixed race.  He was sent to a hot desert tasked to educate a brilliant, Hebrew reading, money, math, and integrity man, a leader in Egypt.

And this is only a short list of Philip’s assignments.  One might say, all the easy places are taken.
