Sea of Galilee
September 1, 2017
Change happens. The Sea of Galilee symbolized life. Jesus did miracles there. It was a source of fresh water and fish. Today the shore retreats at least a centimeter a day, bringing fears of sustainability.
The reason, four successive years of rain shortages while Israel’s thirst for fresh water grows. Farmers, gardeners, and ordinary citizens depend on it.
Compounding the problem is disagreement. Competing interests don’t want change–at least from getting the water THEY need.
The Sea of Galilee mirrors our lives. Change happens. We can’t live life like we did yesterday.
God sees this as our opportunity to grow.
I’m experiencing that being newly. Resources shrink, whether social or financial, we must adjust. Let’s let God show us how.
