Resolutions, volunteer
February 5, 2020
Scripture advises us to come along side those in hard times. Assisting might be just being an encourager: words they need to hear, hope ahead, reminding them they are not alone. I’m here with you. 2020 is a good time to look more broadly at volunteering. To volunteer in a shelter for the homeless, a food pantry focus’ us on needs that can be addressed. We gain perspective on our world, not just our personal space.
Jesus sets varied examples: feeding the hungry, talking to the rejected (the woman at the well) Research shows that volunteering regularly can lead to less stress and lower blood pressure. We don’t do it for our benefit. We simply follow Jesus example. We see what Jesus saw. We become more like him.
