Psalm 23, 3

Are you experiencing a dark valley in your life?  Visit Psalm 23: 4. ‘Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Note, we’re not staying there, we’re walking through.  Fear need not immobilize us.  We have help to move through.  Our Shepherd’s rod and staff.  That rod is not for punishment.  It’s a guidance tool.  Sheep don’t always think, they follow.  Laying a rod across a dangerous drop off, or rushing stream redirects them to a safe place.

A rebellious sheep that is off course can be gently corralled with the staff.  The shepherds staff functions like a portable halter.  A gentle staff correction prevents disaster.  Dark valley today.  Trust our Savior’s rod and staff.
