Prodigals

Most families have a prodigal or two somewhere in the family tree.   We pour over Luke 15 and plead with God for the return of our beloved prodigal. Verse 20 reveals an important truth about his father.  When he saw his son in the distance returning, he RAN to him. Running required picking up your robe showing your legs, a disgraceful and humiliating act.  Yet this father did so because he loved his son.

Loving your prodigal may mean that you show up in court, visit a rehab center, make a prison visit. You fear probing questions. No positive achievements toreport.

Why embrace the humility?  Because Jesus did that for us.  For that reason we never give up on our prodigal.  Because we love them, we run.
