Power Without Love
June 21, 2021
Martin Luther King Jr stated that power without love is reckless and abusive. How true. In my families experience with orphans, the incarcerated, widows, and the poor, my heart breaks at the abuse of the voiceless. King also stated that love without power is sentimental and anemic.
Even within the body of believers we see power exercised without love. James addresses this. Ranking people by position, influence, and wealth creeps in. James 2: 9 ‘But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.’ Strong words, important words. 2: 1 says if you show favoritism, can you really be a Christ follower?
Self on the throne has become tolerated in some places. King said it well. That power will be reckless and abusive.
