Power to provoke

Normal living provides lots of opportunities to be annoyed.  I experienced one at a recent sporting event.  The circumstances brought out one person’s not so pleasant side.  I had a choice to come back with a barb or take a deep breath and let a Grand Pause temper my response.  I chose a silent pause.

In my wait time I pondered who has the power to provoke me?  Jesus was never provoked.  People’s criticism did not control his behavior.  He acted and spoke on His terms, not theirs.   Good example.

I chose a day later to send a genuine compliment to the person.  Maybe his nasty day needed a positive touch.  I could do it because Jesus would.  It was the right thing to do.
