Philippians note in my Bible.
October 30, 2018
Reading Philippians chapter 2 recently, I took note of a scribbled phrase I’d written in the margin. “More love, better decisions, fruit bearing, God glorifying life.” 2003
If I could live the Philippians letter, those would mark my life. Little did I know that 2003 would be the year my husband of 38 years would be diagnosed with fatal ALS, which would ultimately take him from me three terrible years ahead.
Looking back, that phrase defined us. While not our choosing, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis deepened our love for each other friends and family, refined and focused our decisions on the best investment for each day, brought fruit into the Kingdom as folks saw us, with shaky knees walking the path before us, and through struggles proved that God was worth clinging too regardless of circumstances.
