Pay cash

I’m Miriam  Neff-with STARTING OVER FINANCIALLY, and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan, and we’re here to talk about money

Depression survivors lived by the rule, if you can’t pay cash, you can’t afford it.  Good words for today.  I recently heard of a millennial who was invited to a destination wedding, couldn’t afford it, but felt ‘obligated.’

V  An invitation is not an obligation.  In friendship circles and family, financial realities vary greatly.  An honest decline should be acceptable.  A card with what you can give or gift is acceptable.  Again, if you can’t pay cash, you can’t afford it.  Celebrations need not be costly, but many are.

M Remember, an invitation is not an obligation.  Being accountable with your finances is. True friends want you to be financially accountable.
