One student at a time

Did you know that if a student makes a good connection with just one person in his or her school, that student will be more successful?  I know.  I watched this.

One troubled young girl connected with a hall monitor, who with motherly attention greeted her every day, became someone who encouraged her, listened to her, and changed her school experience from an unknown student to someone who felt she belonged. She knew someone expected her to show up, gave her a listening ear, and practical feedback.

One caring custodian who helped a frustrated freshman find his lost jacket, became a daily positive person in that young man’s life.

Yes, counselors and teachers can provide that too.  If you don’t have those credentials, you can still make a difference in our schools.
