Not nuts, just adjusting.

My new young widow friend and I laughed at goofy things we have in common, like talking out loud to our husbands while driving alone, putting a food item in the cart that HE liked, and then sheepishly look around putting it back on the shelf.  I took a long walk wearing Bob’s shirt and his athletic socks.  Neighbors invited me in.  Thankfully they did not remark on my weird attire.

My new friend and I agreed:  We’re not nuts, just adjusting!  “How long will this go on?” she asked. Her husband died at age 38 one and one half years ago.  Her two little ones need her to be normal.  “I don’t know.”  I honestly answered.  “After many years I’m still adjusting.  And your little ones will be alright.  You ARE normal given the circumstances.“
