Nature Speaks

Psalm 19: 1—4 reminds us that God speaks in ways no one can ignore.  He speaks of his firmament, the expanse of the waters and the heavens.  Light and darkness.  Who can look into the heavens and not sense the face of God?  Who can watch ocean breakers and not recognize a power much greater than human?

In my conversations with bird watching neighbors, I include God in my descriptions of awe at the colors of our Baltimore Orioles, blue jays, cardinals, and finches.  “God must be smiling that we are enjoying His handiwork.”

My neighbors ask me to pray for their needs.  I do. And I point to God’s works in the everyday and simple things like changing seasons, and flowers.   God speaks, I refer to Him, He smiles.
