Memorial day ahead # 1

Anticipating Memorial day, it’s good to remember what the day stands for.  Flags fly at half mast to celebrate those who gave the ultimate sacrifice serving our country.  While my husband was a veteran, his death was much latter.  Yet we place a flag at his tombstone, and a folded one is in my office.  There is no freedom without sacrifice. Serving had it’s risks. Most veterans don’t speak of those.

Folks have cook outs, parades, there’s even a 500 mile bike race in Bloomington Indiana.  Regardless of how each of us celebrates, let’s remember that our country is unique.  We value people, because we were founded on that principle.  One Nation Under God.

In all the activity of the day, let’s pause, thank God, celebrate that we are free to celebrate a day honoring people.
