M Planning marriage, we consider that quote, ‘for better or for worse.’   A topic commonly avoided is financial reality and habits.  We stress full disclosure.  Scripture talks about money, work, stewardship, so should couples.  Examine the financial reality of that person you are considering doing life with.

V They will bring that pattern of living into your marriage. Do they have credit card debt?  Spend impulsively?  Hoard to the extreme of harsh living?  Stating vows does not change the pattern.  Given that people are marrying later, wealth might have been accumulated by one, maybe even from a previous marriage, but also debt.   Full disclosure before marriage, time to see habits and their outcome is essential.
