Living what we believe
July 1, 2022
The writer of the book of James lived what he wrote. James 4: 6 ‘God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ It is believed that James was Jesus’ brother. Yet he introduces himself as James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ” James 1:1 He could have written, ‘Listen to me! I grew up with Jesus. We ran and played, learned carpenter together, I heard him speak.’ What man declares himself a servant to his brother?
Possibly what humbled him was remembering that he rejected Jesus’ claim as the Messiah until after his death. He knew Him in ways that did not matter. After Jesus crucifixion, He knew Jesus in the only way that mattered.
So my friend. How about you? This time of testing can be your opportunity to truly know Jesus.
