Leaders # 2

Examine our leaders carefully.  Their words are not as important as their actions.  Nation, church, or organization, leaders are influential, powerful, for good or evil.

King Hezekiah, who started well ended boasting of his wealth. The result would be the destruction of future generations.  He did not care.  He would be comfortable in his lifetime.  II Kings 20: 19 No good leader is self-focused.  Any power is bestowed or allowed by God, not earned or a right.  Not for self-gain.

Contrast with Mordecai, a humble Jewish man in a country ruled by King Ahasuerus, ruler of 127 provinces.  Mordecai raised Esther and warned the king of a plot against his life. Later Mordecai was honored and became powerful. Contrast his use of power.  Esther 10: 3 Fellow Jews esteemed him, because he worked for the good of his people and the welfare of all.
