Internal dialogue

Good stories include not just actions, but what was going on in the person’s head inner motivation. People don’t hear that internal dialogue.
Example: The rich man in Luke 12 built more barns. Neighbors did not know why. He could have been building to store more to give to those in need.
V But the story implies he did so out of greed, or maybe just foolishness. Either way, the story makes us sad because of the unnecessary waste involved. What good do stockpiled items do when there is need all around us?
Internal dialogue: He did so to hoard for himself, to live a life of ease for himself.
God knew his heart. He knows ours as well.
