Inspiration – Perspiration

In those hallowed moments of inspiration, many of us are prompted to serve God, do good, represent Him in a concrete way in our world. Inspiration is a beginning, but only that. It has been said that any great event, product, or mission effort is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. I’ve found that to be true. Inspiration for a book idea? Exciting, energizing–but then the work begins. Prayer and God conversation sorting out the ordinary and OK from the ‘worthy of reading, really inspiring’ content. Disciplined time at the computer. Listening to feedback from honest friends and editors.
African projects. The same applies. 10% inspiration, an effective idea biblically based. But the real work is 90% implementation.
Lord help us not grow weary when the real work begins. Please help us help them.
