M  One of the most important verses in Scripture for managing money is Proverbs 24: 27  Put your outdoor work in order and get your fields ready; after that, build your house.

 

Establish your income before determining where you’ll live. Scriptural settings were agricultural. A tiny field meant living in a tiny tent. The bigger field provided for a  bigger home.

 

V  This is true today.  We have choices: rent, home ownership, multi family and multigenerational options.

 

Ownership is popular.  ‘How big of a mortgage can I afford?’  It’s more than a mortgage.  Its upkeep, taxes, utilities, association fees and more.  All those should not be more than 30% of your income, including upkeep.
