Holiday spending when not the holiday

I’m Miriam  Neff-with STARTING OVER FINANCIALLY,-and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan, and we’re here to talk about money

M  Few are thinking holiday spending this month.  But why not?  Americans spend over $1000.00 during the Christmas season.  One study showed they borrowed over $1000.00, think credit cards, even pay day loans and they had not intended to do so.

V  Before the impulse of the season is here, plan gift giving and purchase with cash.  Consider what would be a valued appropriate gift.  ‘On sale’ does not mean value.  Gifts of phone cords and socks might not be bling, but they are great gifts and will get used.

M  Just preplanning and using cash will ensure saving money instead of building debt. This also reduces the ‘crush rush’ of the season ahead.
