Hiding today
September 5, 2018
The old song, ‘Yesterday’ opines, ‘I just need a place to hide away. I believe in yesterday.‘ So how does hiding out work? Lets look at a few examples in Scripture.
Elijah I Kings 19 ran for his life and hid under a broom bush believing Jezebel would kill him. A possibility except that Elijah’s life was in God’s hands, not Jezebel’s. Gods response? He saw Elijah’s fatigue and depletion. Fed him and sent him on his way. Elijah hid again. God’s challenge, “What are you doing here?” Elijahs answer in summary. His expectations weren’t being met.
We do the same thing. We have an assignment. The results don’t match what we wanted or expected. Hiding solves nothing. Christ followers can embrace the precious hope factor. And the trust factor. God is at work. He’s not required to show us the path.
