Heros/Lincoln
February 23, 2022
Living in Chicago where politics rule, I’m reminded of Proverbs 13:9. “The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.”
I contrast our government leaders with one I’ve selected as my hero: Abraham Lincoln. Standing before his capital monument is deeply moving. Though its size and design are impressive, his philosophy is more awe-inspiring. He willingly accepted hatred of those who disagreed with him, stood firm, and spoke boldly of the silently shed blood of slaves. Others have been more eloquent, accumulated more wealth. But in few, has the light of justice shown more brightly.
Do you need encouragement today? Pick a godly hero in history, from the Bible. Immerse yourself study, glean, learn how they stood for righteousness.
Good lessons for us today.
