Halloween – Thanksgiving

While folks are busy putting away their Halloween decorations and children still gorging on the treats after the tricks, let’s think a bit about what has happened to holidays in our country.
After Christmas, the most profitable retail season is Halloween. Thanksgiving and Easter are distant ‘also ran’ in terms of dollars spent in shopping world.
Scripture states that where our treasure is, there also is our heart. Matthew 6:21; Our culture has moved far from the spirit of our founding fathers and pilgrims who continually thanked God for His blessing, His abundant gifts, His protection, and favor He showed to our new nation. They made no mention of honoring pagan harvest festivals or honoring the dead.
As for me, I plan to make a big deal celebrating Thanksgiving and God’s goodness this month.
