Widow Connection comes along side widows helping them in their time of need. We’ve done projects in Africa and Albania. More proposed projects are coming in. Our projects might be tailoring training, or baking, or another skill depending on their need. We buy treadle machines, or ovens, supplies, and hire trainers. These young women can then learn a skill. When I first meet with them, often their gazes are skeptical. What’s the handout? How long will it last? And then we explain. And bring in the machines. They start the not so easy learning curve–treadling forward, not backward. How do we grasp sisscors? How can this fabric become a salable item?
Nothing is easy in the places we go. They learn while still tending their children and their garden plot if they are fortunate enough to have one. Their reward? A valuable skill. Come join us help widows in their time of need.
