Grasshoppers

Grasshoppers are not a major biblical topic. Yet in the few references, grasshoppers provide great insights for us. Of the 12 men who explored the promised land, 10 thought those who lived there would destroy God’s people like grasshoppers. And they saw themselves as grasshoppers.
Big mistake! They did not see themselves as God saw them. His people. Empowered by Him. Soon to be land owners of the promised land. Not grasshoppers.
This year we have a choice. We can see ourselves through God’s eyes. We are His image bearers. Psalm 139: 13-16. We are created by Him, planned and empowered by Him, if we’ve chosen Him as our Father. Or we can see ourselves as grasshoppers. Small and at the mercy of others and our circumstances.
It’s our choice.
