Good leaders
July 19, 2022
Good leaders are found in unlikely places. Servant hearted leaders may be collecting the dirty paper plates at a picnic, kneeling talking to a child. Observers may not know of the large organizations they manage and budgets they oversee.
When Elijah was told to find Elisha and give him the prophet’s mantle, he found him plowing in a field. (Kings 19:19)
There’s a lesson here for those who wish to be good leaders: don’t loose touch with ordinary people and ordinary tasks.
Besides gaining wisdom to lead with helpful action not just talk, it keeps you humble. Humble leaders’ egos are in check. They don’t make impulsive or self-serving decisions. Yes, they should shop at Walmart on occasion, make a presentation to a local Junior High classroom without the teacher to maintain discipline. Jesus would.
