God’s promises

Do some of God’s words puzzle you.  I confess.  I’ve had to ponder some at length.  Like Psalm 37: 4   Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.  I’ve asked for things that were ‘right on’ in my view and God did not deliver as I expected.

Often years later I’ve seen the wisdom and blessing in what seemed like a hard, unnecessary ‘No’ at the time.  I’ve given more attention to a word in Scripture that does not fit my personality.  “Wait.’ Used 129 times in Scripture, notable people of God were required to wait.  Noah in the ark, Mary and Martha after the death of their brother Lazarus.

Psalm 33:20  ‘We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.’
