Forgiveness expanded
June 26, 2020
This disruptive season finds some experiencing legal ramifications. We want to move forward, forgive, forget, get on with our new life. Legal processes may delay that.
Let’s start by clarifying that if your loss includes legal ramifications for which you are due restitution, forgiveness does not preclude you from pursuing what is just. Scripture is clear that taking advantage any one who is vulnerable will have consequences.
Scripture is clear with specific examples regarding widows, that they need to receive justice and have their grievances heard and addressed. Just because someone can get away with wrongdoing and hurt another in the moment, doesn’t mean thats the last chorus and verse. Scripture clarifies the process of restitution for loss. Also, God declares himself as the defender of the defenseless. And he’s more than good at it.
