Forgiveness and cleansing

In any relationship there are times of many small forgivable moments.  And usually a few huge ones.  Asking forgiveness, and granting forgiveness is healing beyond description.  But forgiveness does not cleanse.  It just makes cleansing possible.  King David had committed adultery and murder.  In Psalm 51 he asks to be forgiven and cleansed.

God’s expectation is clear.  In the prayer Jesus taught us to pray, Matthew 6: 9–15, clearly we forgive because we are forgiven.  That clear conscience is cleansing beyond imagination.  Many relationships are permanently broken unnecessarily.  Because forgiveness is neither asked or granted. We can forgive even if that person has not asked for that.  Forgiveness is possible, by friend. Jesus shows us how.  And He cleanses thoroughly.   Relationship restored.
