Forgive again and again

It’s not uncommon for us to forgive at one moment and be at peace.  And then another reminder or unknown fact surfaces.  Our spirit of forgiveness flies out the window and we are once again, in anger and turmoil at the wrongness of the loss we have suffered.  Thankfully, as Christ followers, we can lean into Jesus’ words in Matthew 18: 21–22 where He answers that we should not only forgive seven times, but seventy seven times.

We’ve forgiven what we knew at the moment, then more facts surface.  My husband’s untimely death to ALS, required forgiveness work. New information about ALS surfaced  connecting its incidence with vaccinations men received entering the military during the Viet Nam conflict.  Bob was one of those men.  I had more forgiving to do.  Seven means complete.  Forgiveness forever.
