Filling the void Handing out

I’m Miriam  Neff-with STARTING OVER FINANCIALLY,-and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan, and we’re here to talk about money

M  Loss and change prompt strange behavior in people related to money.  Loss of a spouse through divorce or death affects more than that persons financial status.  Friends abandon ship.   Typically 75% of our friendship network.

V  Its tempting to try to hold on to ‘friends by ‘handing out.’  Sometimes divorced parents give gifts to their children to keep them close.  Widows and widowers may be over generous with children, or other family members and friends to keep them close.

M We understand the temptation and the void.  But handing out is not a solution.  Meaningful ways to grow that new relationship last.  Handing out does not.  When the funds and gifts stop flowing, the person maybe gone.
