Favoritism
January 23, 2020
My recent travels included India and churches and battle fields of Fredericksburg Virginia. As I learned of people groups in India, and pondered the history of Fredricksburg, James 2: 1 came to mind.
‘My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism.’ This speaks of wealth and status, however, throughout Scripture we know all are created equal by God. Skin color has been a mark of favor, or lack thereof, on our planet.
If Martin Luther King were to walk our streets today, visit our churches, communities, asa 90 year old, what would he see? I’ve walked the bridge in Selma and seen his cell. Have we made progress? Does following Christ make a difference in our treatment of every person, His image bearers? I pray that Christ in us changes us.
