Family silos
March 21, 2022
Most families with children hope, trust, and pray that they will grow up and at least like each other. That wish may not become reality. Many adult children become a family of silos. One sibling is severed from another. Insults, financial or emotional injury. They live separately with little or no connection. Scripture is full of examples of siblings who loved, hated, protected, and even murdered each other.
We should not be surprised. Still, it hurts. That family silo may be a necessary protection, or a missed opportunity for relationship. As parents, its likely we’ll never know the full story of why siblings choose to live isolated lives from each other.
We must remind ourselves; they are God’s children simply loaned to us for a bit. Simply stated, we must let go and let God.
