Why do adult children compete, hurt, and insult each other? Parents grieve and question. You may be either that parent, or that adult child today estranged from a sibling. God definitely cares. We know because He has so many stories in Scripture. King David’s sons Absalom and Amnon in II Samuel. Jacob and Esau. Genesis 36.
We parents are not the only ones whose heart breaks.
God’s does. Jesus, his son’s heart breaks. Jesus KNOWS he can heal any relationship. But each must decide in their own heart–do the necessary forgiving, possibly restitution if the relationship can continue.
And not all can. Humaniods can nurture a hard heart. Friends and even spouses can fuel fires rather than forgiveness. As a parent, our best resource is prayer and often silence. Our words are ineffective compared to fervent prayer.
