Facing a holiday
May 25, 2018
Memorial weekend is not all about celebrating. For some, things have changed. There has been a death in the family. Do we do the same thing, another cook out? Another parade? For others, a disagreement in the family means some won’t talk to each other. What will the ‘family gathering’ look like?
I encourage you to have an alternate plan. No expectation of a joy filled celebration means no disappointment, unfulfilled expectations and hurt at the end of the day. Plan something you can do alone, if need be. A walk in a different park, a coffee outing to a place you’ve never been before.
Best advice: Pray first. Ask God to give you contentment in Him alone. Philippians 4: 12. Its and ask that He loves to grant. Remember Him and celebrate the holiday.
