Don’t believe everything you think

Minds are strange things.  They can latch onto something we heard wrong.  Then we make  assumptions and act in totally inappropriate ways.  We can spend many minutes pondering what we regret. Time wasted. Don’t believe everything you think.

Here is an important exercise.  For every minute you ponder something you regret, spend five thinking of something you did right.  Something that pleases you.  I love Jan Silvius’ words about people in our lives that are troublesome, even fools.  Remember that in most relationships, arguments are not worth the swapped spit.  Crudely stated but true.

One of our most strenuous exercises is to drag our minds from negatives to positives.   Seek reality, not just perception. Trusted friends can give us perspective and context. Prayer can give us God’s thoughts.  Seek truth and perspective like an invaluable treasure.
