Does connection count?

Intentional friendships, connecting positively requires effort, time, and energy.  Is it worth it?  One study discovered that lack of friendship is a health risk, as high as obesity, smoking and high blood pressure.  Another study concluded that friendship in marriage is the way to marital happiness.

Scripture emphasizes the importance of living in community.  Paul’s letters end with long lists of his friends, admonishments, greetings, and encouraging cooperation. They knew he was cold, needed his books and parchments.

I need friends to hold me accountable in stressful situations, and speak wisdom into my life.  That requires transparency.  Those trusted friends can then speak truth because they know and see my struggles. Revising our calendar, reaching out intentionally, keep the relationship current.

Friendships, vital for us all.
