Distractions

Good intentions do not always result in good things happening.  Consider Mary and Martha in Luke 10: 38—42.  Their home was open to Jesus and his followers.  That’s good.  They fed them well and provided housing.  Martha was the go to person in the kitchen and elsewhere.  She was annoyed that her sister sat at Jesus feet learning, and told Jesus so.

Jesus words: Martha, you are distracted by many things, only one thing is important: Mary chose to sit at my feet.

Simplicity, even day old bread would be a feast sitting at Jesus feet.  Or fasting for that matter.  I’m challenged to review my ‘good intentions.’  Are they God honoring?  Him first?

Let our prayer be, ‘Lord, show us what is important to you.’ That’s all that matters.
