Discouraged with our country

There are times as Christ followers that we are discouraged by the direction of our country. Leaders, politicians, people in influential positions from national to local. I gain courage reading Psalm 37: 3 ‘Trust in the Lord and do good; so you will live in the land and enjoy security.’
Our ‘living’ means our behavior is directed by God’s principles. ‘In the land’ meaning our behavior in our communities, does not mean those not following God’s truth will change. Yet we are called to be salt (preservative) and light. Light shines on evil.
Consider the Christians in Rome under Nero’s rule in AD 54. He started out well and became cruel beyond imagination.
We are instructed to pray for our leaders. We are also instructed to live godly lives, regardless of our surroundings.
