Discipline

I never liked the word discipline. Who wants to be corrected, even chastened? The word also means to be instructed and admonished. I like that part better.
Truth is, every Christ follower, no matter new baby, or mature needs discipline. We are prone to human behavior. Falling into unproductive habit’s, being conformed to this world’s ideas of what’s valuable, and just being self-centered. Selfishness afflicts the young, the middle aged, and us ‘vintage’ folks.
To be disciplined is to be teachable. Not a straight jacket of misery, it’s the joy of learning. Discipline is a lifelong exercise in any area of our lives. To be disciplined, even hard checked when we do wrong shows we long to be prompted, to become more Christ like.
