Digital downpour
April 24, 2018
I love quick access to my accounts, what my friends are doing, the markets, even the next hours weather. However, we humans have limited capacity for information holding. Some call it infobesity, some call it information fatigue syndrome. Digital downpour can crowd out quiet time for praying, taking to Father, soaking up the Word, listening to His word for us.
Prioritize. What is important to you? Skip the rest. Don’t fear ‘missing out.’ Don’t subscribe to social media just because someone else does. Unsubscribe. Disconnect. Turn off phones, beeps, alerts, and email. One work study showed that productivity went up 120 percent in three years.
Focused, prioritized time for spiritual growth, prayer and listening to God, is worth turning the spigot off on that digital downpour.
