Crisis blessings.

I’ve seen crisis do four GOOD things in my life: refine, teach, shine a light on my inconsistent living, and most important–change me.

Crisis shocks us, not God.  I brought on one crisis.  With more impulse and desire for excitement than wisdom, I jumped from a 30-foot cliff into Crater Lake, Oregon–incredibly beautiful, 66 degree cold water–the purest, deepest lake in our nation.

Result:  a broken vertebra.  Eight weeks in a body brace refining, teaching, shining a light on my inconsistent living, and changing me.

Refined calendar:  only necessary activities and healing.

Lesson: God’s design of our spines is unfathomable and complex.

Inconsistent:  not thanking God for walking, driving, flying, swimming, skiing, all His tender mercies.

Changed?  No more leaping from cliffs–interference with God’s current calling on my life.
